New skating season - part 3

Been busy these days, but I haven’t missed Skate America! I drank a lot of tea in the week end to stay awake during the pre-recorded broadcast, plus my allergy and some parties weren’t really helping. But let’s start!

Virtue & Moir + Davis & White + Pechalat & Bourzat

I know VM weren’t actually competing @ SkA, but I had to talk about those three teams together.
I’m not sure what to think about Virtue and Moir, so I’ll start with a pure technical consideration: they’re so cute I could eat them for breakfast! The SD is good, no surprise since it is an adaption of the former mesmerizing FD which I worship with all my heart; I think they’ll take a big advantage on others with the latin rythms, even if the pattern is ruining every SD (I want the OD back!). The FD has to be developed, lift aren’t as brilliant as they should but they looks really challenging and they will be amazing by the end of the season; first half kinda reminds me of Mahler, and I suppose white clothes aren’t helping! But they’re still floating and flying on ice like no one else does, not even closely, and they’re cooing and I love them because they have no comparison in this world. I’m sad because nothing new is on here, but the lacks will definitely improve once they won’t be focusing on techinque anymore. About Davis & White, if there’s a dance I prefer to tango, that’s waltz, and they managed to dance it with unhuman lightness and speed. I, however, still think waltz is not for Meryl: she’s better than before but there’s no comparison between Tessa and any other dancer in the waltz, she has an elegance that Meryl will never be able to reach, with her not-always-beautiful posture and bended knees. I don’t know how La Strada would be, but I was expecting it with joy because I thought she was perfectly fitting! Here, I think Charlie was way better. He’s a boss!

Not great news from team Canton this year: amazing lift that everyone tries to emulate, but maybe they needed a little rest, I don’t know, they never escaped from their comfort zone and that’s not what I was expecting from them. Paradoxically, the one who filled me with enthusiasm was the program which in the future could be less exciting; Pechalat and Bourzat were lively, light-hearted, funny and new! At least they risked and tried something. They had good lines and I really hope they won’t repeat the ruining falls of the past season. Fabian had a terrible bronchitis during the execution so I’m surprised how he managed to finish that athletic and quick program. Yet it is athletic more than dramatic, therefore while the other two teams will be able to grow in interpretation, they don’t really have room here. But I adore them!
Oh and I must add that Fabian, with that costume and make-up, is the sexiest skater on earth.
